Headliner: The Oh Yeahs

THE OH YEAHS is an acoustic female trio featuring three of Chicago's top vocalists and multi-instrumentalists: Leslie Beukelman, Allison Orobia, and Sarah Marie Young. Each of these women has a diverse musical background, but they all have one thing in common: they love to make music and sing together, and it shows. The Oh Yeahs leave audiences wondering who is singing which part as they weave their voices together in harmony and warm unison. Accompanied by guitar, ukulele, percussion, and trumpet or melodica, The Oh Yeahs showcase their vibrant personality on their latest self-titled release. Their live show and album feature each woman's songwriting and unique approach to popular music.

Opener: Morgan Pirtle with Aaron Day

Morgan Pirtle is an independent singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Chicago. At a young age, she was greeted by the sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and Carole King echoing through her musical home. This early introduction to music led her to pursue a degree in Vocal Jazz. Her in-depth studies of the genre led her to naturally blend jazz with other contemporary influences, painting ethereal and impactful soundscapes with her music.

She is often compared to Norah Jones and Rachael Price, but also finds inspiration from artists like Lianne La Havas, Eloise, Madison Cunningham, Bruno Major, and Melody Gardot. Garnering praise as DownBeat Student Music Award recipient and a Luminarts Fellow in Jazz, Pirtle continues the trajectory of her musical journey through collaborations and new music. In 2019, she released her debut EP “Muse,” a collection of songs containing lyrics that are “conceptual and introspective, with each song of hers serving as a tightly-woven meditation on a certain aspect of herself.” - Ryan Rosenberger.

In November 2021, she mesmerized the crowd at her sold-out show at Epiphany Center for the Arts in Chicago, debuting her pandemic inspired and folk influenced single “Lost in a World.” Her latest single “TS4L” (Temporary Season For Love) was released on September 2nd, 2022. Partnering with Emmy nominated producer and guitarist Aaron Day, this neo-soul/pop tune strays from Pirtle’s comfort zone, diving into a world of rebounds and dwindling ideals of love. She is working on her next EP, set to release in May 2024.

Aside from her personal releases, she can be heard on projects by Makena Hartlin, Da$htone, Blindboy & others. When she is not making music, you can find her baking, gardening, hiking, rock climbing, cuddling with her dog Tucker, or volunteering at One Tail at a Time.

Aaron Day is a Chicago-based guitarist, composer, producer, arranger and bandleader. He possesses a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies with a Minor in Music Composition from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA). Since moving to Chicago in 2012, Aaron has performed and collaborated with many musicians throughout the Chicagoland area in live music venues as well as in various studio settings. Artists and live music groups that he frequently plays with include Morgan Pirtle, Shantina Lynet, Vibe Music Live, Aaron Day Organ Trio and The Jones Collective. As a producer/arranger/composer/collaborator, he has released music with Morgan Pirtle (Muse EP), Shantina Lynet (Time Lost, SexC), Jimmie "JJ" Jeter & Gabriella Sorrentino (It’s Beautiful (Elena’s Song)), J. Hasan (No Vacancy), Astro Samurai (Rover, EP), Dino 7K & Lomo (Take a Leap) among others. As a working artist, he enjoys the many opportunities and challenges that arise and is always looking to create new dialogue through music.
